1. Overview

MedStudy AI Quiz Explainer ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension that helps medical students understand quiz questions by providing AI-generated educational explanations. This policy explains what data the Extension collects, how it is used, and your rights.

2. Data Collected

The Extension collects only the following data, and only when you explicitly click "Analyse Questions":

• Quiz question text and answer options — the text of questions and multiple-choice options visible on your current browser tab. This data is sent to our AI processing server to generate educational explanations.

The Extension does not collect:

• Your name, email address, or any personal identifying information
• Browsing history or activity on other pages
• Cookies, passwords, or authentication tokens
• Any data from pages other than the active quiz page at the moment you click Analyse

3. How Data is Used

Quiz question text is transmitted to a secure AI processing server solely for the purpose of generating educational explanations. The data is:

• Used only to produce the explanation shown to you
• Not stored permanently after processing
• Not used for advertising, profiling, or sold to third parties
• Not shared with any party other than the AI processing service

4. Local Storage

The Extension stores your most recent analysis results locally in Chrome's extension storage (chrome.storage.local) so that results persist when you close and reopen the popup. This data never leaves your device and can be cleared at any time using the "Clear results" button.

5. Permissions Explanation

• activeTab — required to read the quiz question text from the page you are currently viewing, but only when you click "Analyse Questions". The extension cannot access other tabs or your browsing history.
• scripting — required to run a small script on the active tab that extracts question text from the page's HTML.
• storage — required to save your last analysis results locally so they persist between popup openings.

6. Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. We do not log or store quiz content on our servers beyond the duration of a single request.

7. Children's Privacy

This Extension is intended for use by adult medical students and professionals. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Any changes will be reflected with an updated date above.
